You may be eligible for disability insurance if you’ve been injured from an incident that is not industrial, illness, or pregnancy. In general terms, disability is a mental or physical illness or injury that prevents you from working like you normally would. If you are under age 50, then it is difficult to obtain disability if you retain the capacity to do any form of light work.

If you are over 50 but not yet 55, it can also be difficult to obtain disability if you can still do light work.
